Camarillo woman survives PCH crash
A 40-year-old Camarillo woman was taken to St. John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard today after the minivan she was driving plunged off an embankment along the Pacific Coast Highway north of Sycamore Canyon, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Sandra Ballard was driving south on the highway about 10:30 a.m. when her vehicle drifted to the right and went down the rocky embankment, the CHP reported. Ballard was ejected from the vehicle onto the rocks and sustained moderate injuries, including a broken hand, cuts and abrasions, authorities said.
Authorities said the crash was still under investigation.

Hmmmmm no seat belt mentioned. They never want to mention that the driver was NOT wearing a seatbelt when there are only minor injuries involved. Had she died, it would have been mentioned in the first paragraph!

She's lucky to only suffer minor injuries, sounds like it could have been much worse. I assume she was alone, as there is no mention of passengers. I do agree though, had she died they would have mentioned whether or not she was wearing a seat belt.

It says she had moderate injuries not minor.
She has the same last name as the freak who was just arrested on child porn charges at the Camarillo library. I'm not trying to start anything, I'm just wondering if there is a connection. I truly hope not, because I actually feel sorry his family...knowing a family member is sick like that, would be very hard to handle.
I hope Ms Sandra is ok and will have a fast recovery. Good luck.

Save the commentary - you people seem to be addicted to perusing the Star and throwing your two cents into the mix. No one cares what YOU think, got that?

My thoughts and prayers go out to Sandra and her family. For those who know her, family encompasses everyone whose lives she touches, including her blood relations, friends, and co-workers. For those that are commentng without knowledge of who this wonderful woman is, be careful, lest you anger those that hold her dear. She is one of the most considerate people that I know, and this is a hard time for those that hold her dear. It's easy to make a snap judgement about a situation when it's not YOUR loved one being air-lifted to the hospital. She is a very cautious person...and EVERYONE buckles up when they get in the car with her. Another thing, she is SOOO not related to that other person that got caught looking at child pornography at a library in Camarillo...not even close. Instead of just commenting online, reach out to your fellow community member and her family, see what you can do to help, since we ALL know, talk is cheap. Think of the injuries that YOU would sustain if YOUR SUV headed off PCH @ Mugu Rock, you were ejected, and landed on that rocky piece of shore! Minor to moderate...I think NOT!
Mugu Rock is a dangerous area of Pacific Coast Highway, and the issue that needs to be addressed is: how do we prevent this from happening again?
Pledge to make a difference: either see how you can help this family in some small way, and/or talk to your local goverment officials to see how we can make PCH safer for all.
