City offers free arrowhead hike to learn about Native Americans
The Moorpark Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department will offer its popular "family arrowhead hike" May 18 along the Seranata Trail in Moorpark.
Participants will learn about the Native Americans who lived in the area and have the opportunity to search for arrowheads.
The hike is open to all ages, and families are encouraged to attend. All hikers under 12 are guaranteed to "find" a genuine arrowhead they can keep and take home. The recreation leader will also help kids make a necklace using their arrowheads.
Hikers should meet at the Miller Park picnic pavilion at 11:15 a.m. The hike begins at 11:30 a.m. and lasts about 90 minutes.
Miller Park is at 4530 Miller Parkway. The hike is free, but registration is required. For more information, call 517-6300.
