Bus driver arrested on suspicion of molesting autistic boy
A school bus driver was arrested this morning in Thousand Oaks on suspicion of molesting a 14-year-old Moorpark boy with autism, Ventura County sheriff's officials said.
Danny Floyd, 39, of Moorpark was being held in the East County Jail with bail set at $250,000.
Floyd was paired with the teen through the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, sheriff's Detective Eric Buschow said. He said Floyd and the boy have known each other since November.
The molestation allegedly occurred between March 1 and May 5, the detective said.
Floyd was taken into custody at his place of employment, Durham School Services, police said.
He was arrested and booked on suspicion of continuous sexual abuse, oral copulation with a person under 16, sending harmful matter and committing a lewd act upon a child.
The family of the boy went to police last week with the allegations.

.........words escape me; This sicko cannot even be considered as "human"; I feel sick to my stomach just reading the article; how horrible for the child and his family! I am so sorry!

Wow, if this turns out to be true, it could be can of worms opening up. Not only was this man paired with someone through Big Brothers/Big Sisters, but he's a school bus driver.
I would imagine that the screening process for BB/BS is pretty thorough. Does anyone know the background check process for this and for being a school bus driver?

Disgusting and horrible! I hope he gets what's coming to him!

That's justy nasty.

Since this is not a crime that currently gets the death penalty, these kind of "people" should be lobotomized after conviction. If I have to pay to keep him alive and fed, I would only agree upon lobotomization of all but life supporting pars of his brain.

BeaHappi: The problem with background checks is that they will show things only if you have been caught doing something. If you have been 'flying under the radar' and haven't been caught.....nada. Same with FBI fingerprint checks. Unfortunately, these checks aren't as great as people think.

justareader...very true. I wonder if there are any psychological tests that can be administered for people who'd be working with kids. Like personality factors, etc.
I knew this guy once who wanted to work for the Sheriff's department and although he passed the physical part of it, he couldn't be considered because of some test that revealed anger issues. And for him it was dead-on because he did have a temper.
With all of the brilliance in our world it just seems like we should be able to come up with a test that would provide indicators for those people who might not be a good fit. Especially for those who like you said, have flown under the radar up to a certain point.
I hope that the 16-year old is doing okay. How devastating.

...my mistake...I hope the 14-year old boy is doing okay.

If this is true and he confessed to this I will personaly apply harm to this man! Its bad enough to take advantage of a minor but you cross way over the line when it is a disabled minor! This makes me so angry and I was having a good day until now! Agian if he is guilty of this I Hope he dies a slow death and burns in hell!!!

There is no way to have pre-cognizance of what a person may or may not do based on a test. All you can do is catch them after the fact then as I propose, lobotomize them.

Molesting autistic children is not a perversion, it is an abomination. These people cannot be cured, there is no rehabilitation. A lobotomy insures compliance without killing them. All he should be able to do from here on out is drool into a cup.

I don't know; I'm kind of with FACE on the solution for people convicted of sick crimes against kids. Lobotomy seems a lot kinder than my solution...drawing and quartering them and then pinning them over an ant hill...in the desert...in June.

Oh, and let me preempt the "You wouldn't say that if that was your boy that was caught!" numbskullian remark: If it was my boy, they better not let him out, because I would castrate him with a spoon and then I would sterilize myself.

If he's guilty I have a nice chrome bumper to tie him to by the feet & I'll even buy the gas for the long drive(drag)..
What a pig! Way to scar a kids life, one who can barely fend for themselves. An immediate 20 years in jail comes to mind for this crime.

Yes, and he may have molested other children, but I am sure he had a standard background check. So he certainly wasn't convicted or arrested for it.

This person drove my kids on a Beach Bus all summer long! It disgusts me to think my child and her friends interacted with him, and they thought he was so funny! I don't even know if I can let my child go on tat bus this summer!

Hes a piece of crap...I want him castrated and fed to Bubba. When molestations and child rapes happen we should put these sick individuals in prison for life.

lilmamma,
Your comment "....should put these sick individuals in prison for life." is truer than you know. These sex offenders, after they serve their prison time, must register every year or face additional prison time (per Megan's Law). An overwhelming majority of sex offenders fail to comply or commit new crimes and are sent back to prison. For the rest of their lives they will be doing short stints out of prison followed by long terms inside. Its referred to as "Life on the installment plan." I, however, would prefer them to stay in prison forever, locked in a 10 foot by 10 foot box with no windows, tv, phones, books, or music and eating a "brick" of meatloaf twice a day (because prisoners have rights) for the rest of their natural days! There is no rehabilitating a sex offender! The only way of changing their thinking is to separate the head from the rest of the body.

For those who are interested in bus driver background requirements (I know it's Kern County but they cite State requirements, if it's not enough you can Google Bus Driver Background Check yourselves:)
http://kcsos.kern.org/transportation/...
That being said, the Big Brothers & Sisters of America etc. has a LOT to answer for, which is SO unfortunate in an organization that does SO much good for the underprivileged...like someone said earlier, the background checks are only effective if someone has been convicted of misbehavior previously. This guy is lucky we don't live in an age where the powers that be would have just handed the perv SOB over to the family. Dull-spoon castration would have been the LEAST of this skinless wonder's worries.

How about castration to go with that lobotomy?

Wether it's true and this guy is a sicko or the hard times are catching up to these people (victim's family) and they want to take advantage of the system it's extreamly sad. Imagine the lawsuit the family has against durham (if he was on dutty) & big brother/sister program.

This is terrible. My heart goes out the child and his family. I have a handicap child that uses transportation servies and this scares me. My sister is a special ed bus driver and she is very upset by this.

Maybe some of you should re-read the article, actualy both articles. This "person" met the victim through Big Brothers, not the bus service. in fact he had no contact with the boy through Durham, only through Big Brothers. the only reason it was mentioned by the Syar was because that's were he was arrested and it give a bit more sensationalism to the crime. Could there be more victims related to his job? probably not. What he did requires time alone in a private area. thats not likely to happen that often on a school bus. so lets leave the school bus part out of it. also, remember, if you don't like the laws then you have a right, no, a duty to do all you can to have these laws changed. I'm sure that Big Brothers tries very hard to screen out these type of people but there will always be one or two that slip by. Now they have to go back and see who else he's had contact with and question them. I say lock them all up together and put the key away. There is no need to sink to their level by "doing" things to them. Better to leave them and forget them, then concentrate on healing the wounds caused. And before you make a comment about how i would feel if it were my child, it did happen to my child. My child and i have to live with this horror every day. What makes matters worse is they never even caught the guy. The family and community is fortunate that they were able to identify and capture him. There are others out there that we have no idea are there. We should be guarding against them by being involved in our childerens lives and being concerned whith what they do and who they hang out with. A child can learn to forgive a parent for what they deemed being nosey and interfering when they were young. They can never get out of their heads the evil that these things do to them when it does happen.

I don't think where he origanally met the boy makes a difference to me. A lot of the special ed kids can't even tell you what happend on the school bus. The fact that some one can do this to ANY child is aweful enough but to a handicap child! And he works for the school bus system.

Schoolbusdude01, that makes me feel much better NOT I dont care were this happened lets use the bus to run this perv over!!!

People like this should do society a favor and put a bullett in their head. It will never help the child he hurt, however, it will spare other children and parents this nightmare.
If ANY child molesters are reading this...PLEASE do the right thing...Put a bullett in your head now!
