Six arrested after woman attacked
Three women and three girls were arrested Saturday night in Port Hueneme after they assaulted an Oxnard woman and stole her cell phone, police said.
Clara Garcia of Oxnard and Andrea Jimenez of Fontana told police they were walking on Kern Street about 10 p.m. Saturday when they were attacked, according to a statement from the Port Hueneme Police Department.
Six or seven females who had been in a nearby front yard punched and kicked Garcia to the ground and took her cell phone, police said.
Jimenez escaped to a house in the neighborhood without injury.
Police said Garcia complained of pain and suffered swelling to her face and head. She was taken to St. John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard for treatment.
Responding officers found three of the suspected attackers at a home on Kern Street and three others in the next block after residents in the area reported seeing them jump backyard fences, police said.
All six were arrested on suspicion of robbery. The identities of those arrested were not available Monday.
Police said the case is still under investigation.

Good example of you should be in doors at that time, all the crazy people are out partying. Every time I see a story like this it is around 10PM-2:30AM.

Sad. You can't even take a evening stroll with a friend without being assaulted in some way.

It's a shame that we have to surrender our evening strolls, sunset beach walks and other outings long traditional to our culture to violent criminals and members of the growing "Sub-Culture" in this country.

Take your streets back. Neighborhood Watch works.

None of this surprises me in 2008. You see worse things being done by younger and younger kids. I think parents need to spank their kids before all this happends. It all starts as a child and how you were raised. Disturbed children who grow up to adults are the ones committing these types of crime. Wake up parents begin by slapping their hand when they hit lil Lisa on the head and say "NO that was wrong, apologize."

3 women & 3 girls. Were the 3 women training their children to be criminals??? Hopefully, someone will beat them up.

All I can say is: Gun Control. If these two women were armed, it would have been the last attack for these three "women", (<----) if you can call tyhem that. It is way past time to take back our neighborhoods and streets. Start at the voting booth, and work your way up.

amen, mco. self-defense is a natural right and the kumbaya liberals in the legislature need to stop being allowed to erode the rights of the citizens under the constitution.
take back the streets, take back the night, take back the state.

Brucewhateverrooster;
what happens when your convicted of a crime you did not commit, received the death sentence , are put to death only to find a mistake was made? Oops sorry? That won't work if we have already killed the person.

I disagree with numonics-they were WALKING for goodness sakes!
I hope the three idiot women and the three idiot girls suffer much for a freaking cell phone.
Seriously, what kind of world are we living in that they have to steal a PHONE? Between the 6 of them, they should be able to afford a pay as you go plan.
Losers!!!
I hope the paper publishes their mugs!
I hope the young girls ask themselves:
Was it worth it over a cell phone??????

Was the cell phone diamond encrusted?? Was it Gucci or Chanel? This crime just seems silly and rather stupid. I hope a $129.00 cell phone is worth embarrassing your family for.

Bruceplayswithrods,
I understand where you are coming from but like most gun-toting wanna-be vets on the right side of the Bush's ass, you take it way too far. I would suggest a machete because it can be used over again. Hakuna Matata

i'm sad to see this. i have lived in that neighborhood for 41 years. i have walked and ridden my bike in and out of hueneme for years. i know people on probably every street on this side of the base. i have never felt scared or intimidated even while walking at night. until i rode down kern. not sure if it's the same house, but just beyond the dip in the road is a house full of bad attitude. they have yelled to me and confronted me. i never rode through again, but i'm sure that's what they wanted. the neighborhood watch on my side is close knit and works well. that side of pearson is on their own. too bad.

this is pathetic, we have to start watching our backs, literally, in our own neighborhood...what is wrong with this picture! the good people have to become locked up in our homes while the creeps roam the streets free!

Hey I was just saying that crimes of opportunity happen late at night. Every time I read of a robbery around here it is always late at night when they are leaving a bar or the movies. I think it completely sucks that you can't enjoy a walk minding your own business. Our justice system needs to be tougher so these idiots think twice about their actions. Where were the neibors when this happened? hidding behind there window blinds. People need to step up and help others, call the police or something.

Time to move on outta this County. You can't enjoy the weather if you're planted in the ground. No pride in this County is bringing it down and its going fast. Neighborhood watches - Gun Control? Not gonna help. More like foreclosure bunker watch and shoot-out at the OK Corral. More and more places for the gangs to hold out. Sad.

Yeah, let's all arm ourselves and shoot to kill. That'll show 'em all. Cripes. Those of you who really are responsible gun owners should realize that the vast majority of people have no idea how to handle a fire arm, especially a hand gun, and would likely end up harming themselves or other innocent folks with random bullets flying around the neighborhood. Gimme a break, folks. Can you imagine what that would be like?? I've owned guns my entire life. I'd be scared pantsless to think the general public had armed itself.

I'm sure there was more to the story than posted, however that is no excuse for blatent violence on a residential street (or any street for that matter). She probably had her phone stolen because she was going to dial 911, not because they wanted to keep it.

This is an example of how gangs and gang members come into a neighborhood and take control. They use fear and intimidation to control people. They instill fear in the residents hoping that the residents will be too afraid to call the polce. The victims were doing nothing wrong except they walked past the wrong (gang) house.

More guns on the street isn't the answer. Many people aren't capable of handling guns safely, even with training. Gun proponents envision a scenario where the two victims whipped out their guns and either scared the criminals away or shot them. Other possible outcomes though include the victims getting overpowered by the six or seven attackers and getting their guns stolen (two more guns now in the hands of criminals, thank you); or the victims shooting wildly and hitting an innocent bystander.
Many accidents happen with guns in the hands of experienced gun owners, including hunters and police officers. Putting guns in the hands of people who would only use them in panic situations is asking for trouble.

This is terrible. Hope these attackers pay for their crime. I wonder if they have the intergrity to apologize for their actions? Hope they do time. Women are just as vicious as men. More prisons are needed for women, especially these ones! Lock 'em up and throw away the key. They know right from wrong... Hope these women haven't reproduced yet. No Mother of the year in that group.
