Moorpark Country Club Golf Course Hole 7, par 5
Description: A dogleg left that sweeps around the base of the hill on the left and protected by the Gavert Wash down the right side. The hill poses one threat to golfers who may hit their shots too far left, while the wash on the right carries its own set of troubles. There are only a few bunkers on the hole, but two are located where the fairway turns, bringing them into play. There's also one near the green. The green slopes from back to front, with the slope in the back acting like a backstop on approach shots.
How to play it: Off the tee, aim a little right, but don't let the shot drift too far or the wash can come into play. For most, the best play is to make this a three-shot hole. For those bigger hitters, reaching the green in two is possible, but requires a gamble of carrying the deep bunker 30 yards short of the green on left side of the fairway. If successful, the player will be rewarded with a kick off of the downslope behind this bunker carrying the ball onto the green. The green is not big. Shots drifting right on the approach may be lost. So if you miss, miss left.
