Q. What can I do, as a support staff person taking care of people with disabilities, when my company has a different perspective of assisting thse people that doesn't agree with the qualit of care that I feel thse people should be receiving? --Perplexed

A. I can sense your concern and passion in working with people with disabilities. I can tell that you want them to get the utmost quality of care available.

I would start with writing out your concerns and going to your supervisor with positive suggestions of ways to improve the working enviornment and atmosphere for the clients that you work with.

Q. I've been getting depressed lately. How can I improve my mood?--Sad

A. Depression could have many different causes. It could be situational or even biological.

I would first suggest that you see your doctor in order to see how you are doing physically. He/she can also assess how you are doing psychologically and can possibly refer you to a mental health specialialist.

Excercise and good nutrition are also beneficial in helping to improve mood. I hope that you are feeling better soon.
