Oxnard man killed after confrontation

An Oxnard man was killed early Saturday in Anaheim when a man he had been arguing with deliberately ran him over with his car, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

Richard Zarate, 28, was at Lofflers Sports Bar & Grill with his girlfriend and two other people, Sheriff's Department spokesman Jim Amormino said. When they left the bar about 1:30 a.m., they saw a man outside urinating in public.

"(Zarate) took offense to that, and he told him not to do it, and that started an argument," Amormino said.

Zarate and his friends then walked to their car, parked on a nearby side street. According to witnesses at the scene, a Honda Accord driven by the man who had been urinating in public drove toward them and hit Zarate and his girlfriend, Amormino said.

His girlfriend was knocked down and sustained minor injuries. Zarate was dragged about 75 yards.

"That street is a dead end," Amormino said. "They made a U-turn and came back and deliberately ran him over again."

Orange County Sheriff's detectives have not found the driver or the man and woman who witnesses reported seeing in the car with him. The witnesses could relate only a small portion of the license plate, Amormino said.

There is no civilization anymore, just MYOB. What a vile act. Today's youth's brains are not developing stopped at the "Do what you want" and "Kill those who want me to stop doing what I want." Is there something in the water, or is it simply the Oxnardian Principle?

Sorry, the Californian Principle. I hope the perpetrator is caught. I have a real vile idea on how to deal with him.

This is horrible. You can't even tell people not to urinate in public. I know what you mean to MYOB but at the same time, if everyone turns the other way, where is the accountability? Just call the police to handle the matter...don't even talk to weirdos like that.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

C.S.I. - Let's hope they DNA the urine. He'll turn up eventually.

xiotek ,Maybe he didn't appreciate the guy exposing himself when he was with his girlfriend.
You know when my children were little and we were at a restaurant or whatever (example) these young punks would say the F word loudly where others could hear. At this time my children were learning words!!!!! My husband always told them to knock it off.......there were little kids listening to them and they would apologize 9 out of 10 times.

(shakes head) He should have known better than to challenge a mainstay of Anaheim's culture and tradition.

Thats sad when an Oxnardian has a problem holding his own.....yes sometime it pays to just MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS. I guess the superman emblem on his chest was not enough to stop the car....if you see someone breaking the law...it's best to be a good witness and call the police! This would have never happen to Charles Bronson!

Charles Bronson is a wimp compared to Chuck Norris. Now that guy would have stopped the car, yanked the guy out with one hand and then gave him a round house kick.

Public urination is the right of every drunkard.

It's a sad day when a dude is murdered by a coward behind the wheel of his car and people think the he "should have minded his own business." The problem was not the he spoke up, but that he was murdered by a coward.

I'm all about venting here, but a person was horribly killed. Apparently "class" is a learned bahavior.
