Workshops aimed at charity organizations

Classes on nonprofit management and leadership are being offered through the next several months at the Ventura County Community Foundation's Resource Center for Nonprofit Management in Camarillo.

They include:

- A seven-month certificate program in board leadership. Moderated by Susan Murphy, an associate business professor at California Lutheran University, the institute will be held one day each month through November. The first session is May 21, with subsequent sessions throughout the year. Each session will be held from 9 a.m. to noon; breakfast is provided.

Individuals on nonprofit boards of directors or those interested in joining boards are eligible. Cost is $375 for the first person sent by a charity and $275 for each additional person. For information on scholarships, call Susan Seale, 988-0196, ext. 110.

- The Sidney Lyons Leadership Series for leaders of Ventura County nonprofit agencies serving people with drug and alcohol addictions. It begins May 15, with subsequent sessions on June 19, July 17 and Aug. 21. Each session will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Cost is $125 for the first representative of an organization and $75 for each additional person.

- "Meet the Grantmakers," a session in which nonprofit representatives can meet face to face with representatives of corporate and private foundations to find out what they are looking for in grant proposals. It will be from 10 a.m. to noon May 7.

Panelists include representatives of Dole Foods, Procter & Gamble, Sage Publishing and the Wells Fargo Foundation. Fee is $40.

Classes are held at the foundation's office, 1317 Del Norte Road, Suite 150, Camarillo.
