2 Santa Paula teens arrested on suspicion of theft
From staff reports
Police early this morning arrested two teenage boys from Santa Paula on suspicion of grand theft, authorities said.
Officers responding just after 4 a.m. today to a report of two people possibly breaking into cars in the 100 block of North Olive Street in Santa Paula spotted two young men in the 100 block of North Palm Street, one of whom was peeking into the window of a parked car, according to a prepared statement from the Santa Paula Police Department. When an officers ordered the young men to stop, they ran south on Main Street and into a housing complex in the 100 block of Sonoma Avenue. Officers found the two teenagers hiding in bushes, police said.
The teenagers, who allegedly had stolen property from cars in the area in their possession, were arrested on suspicion of grand theft, conspiracy and resisting arrest, police said.
The teens were booked into Juvenile Hall. Their names were not released because of their age.
Police are asking anyone who was a victim of vehicle burglary in this area to contact Senior Officer Cody Madison of the Santa Paula police at 525-4474.

Why is that we still protect these "minors" by not publishing their names? Why also are the records of minors forever sealed?
I (sort of) understand sealing the records for petty things. Many of us did stupid things as kids that we are happy haven't followed us in life. However, felonies aren't minor and I'm not so sure that should be sealed. And, I absolutely do feel that their names should be printed in the paper. There's nothing like some good embarrassment to prevent it from happening again. I realize that some gang members would be thrilled to see their names in print. Most kids however, and their parents, would be horrified.

I agree, Comments. When charged with a felony, the names of juvenile perps should be released, along with the names of their parents. I'm tired of hearing excuses as to why parents can't control their kids or shouldn't be held responsible.

The parents might be asleep at that time. I was. Plus, I called the police out many times on my daughter, who was out of control. (I didn't teach her this stuff) She attained a fake ID I took her and the ID to the police station. The police thought it was funny... She learned to extort, act out, terrible things came out of her mouth. She would physically fight me. I'm not a fist fighter. I was frustrated beyond belief. Thank God she is 18 now. Now the courts are having fun with her. I tried to warn them they just laughed and thought I was wasting tax payer money. I can't help that. No, one wants to live in community out there. I'm glad I'm gone.

yeah the parents were probably sleeping but if a parent is aware that their child is up to no good, they should do nightly bed checks at random hours of the night or booby trap the doors. I used to put bells on all the doors so if my kid snuck out either I would hear them or the dogs would...pretty clever if I do say so myself

Comments ,Juevenile records are not automatically sealed. In fact in cost a few hundred dollars to have the records sealed.)Parents pay). And the only one who can unseal them is a Judge.
stave1 ,I know many parents feel the same pain as you do. You can be the best parent in the world and your child stray the wrong way. Yet everyone wants to blame the parents!!! My Sister let her daughter spend the night at her friends house one weekend. When my sister called to tell her daughter Goodnight.....the other Mom realized they had climbed out the window ! My sister was on her way over there in a heartbeat! She found my neice who had been drinking.......she took her to the police station they did the breath thing on her and sat her down and had a long talk with her. We as parents do the best we can and leave alot to God.

Hmm Santa Paula, teens out committing grand larceny at 4 AM. Parents oblivious, houses aren't the largest there, no one heard, Santa Paula isn't known for being culturally diverse, so that should say a lot.

RC, My husband screwed the screens into the frame of the window. We did do random checks that is how we found out she was sneeking out in the middle of the night. She and her friends still unscrewed the screen screws. There was no stopping her. If my name appeared in the paper for this kid that everyone turned away from I would be very upset. Oh, I forgot. The first and second time we noticed her missing in the middle of the night we called the police. They just thought we were silly. They didn't do a thing to put her in check...

I agree that it’s not always the parents fault however, as a parent we should try stay one step ahead of our kids and be VERY proactive…kids can be very sneaky
