Second story of Moorpark home gutted by fire

A two-alarm fire gutted the second story of a home in Moorpark this afternoon.

Witnesses said most of the top floor of the two-story home was destroyed by the fire. The home is on 11000-block of Blossomwood Court.

Ventura County Fire Department firefighters were on the scene within minutes of when the fire was reported at 3:47 p.m.

No one was home at the time of the fire.

A pet dog was rescued unharmed from the home.

The cause of the fire had not been released late this afternoon.
