Morning Report: 3 suspected auto thieves arrested after short pursuit

Police and Fire: Three men were arrested in Thousand Oaks Wednesday on suspicion of crimes including auto theft after they ran from a Sheriff's deputy during a traffic stop, authorities said this morning.

A deputy who was stopping a car for vehicle violation about 4:45 p.m. learned that it had been reported stolen from a Thousand Oaks home the previous day when he ran a records check, said Capt. Monica McGrath of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.

When he stopped the vehicle on Conejo Boulevard near Hillcrest Drive, three men ran from the car into the Janss Marketplace, McGrath said.

Sheriff's deputies, California Highway Patrol officers and a Sheriff's department helicopter responded to the scene and arrested three suspects within about 15 minutes, McGrath said.

Daniel Pahua, 18, of Thousand Oaks, John Lomeli, 20, of Oxnard, and Gabriel Delgado, 23, of Thousand Oaks, were booked into Ventura County Jail.

All three could face charges of vehicle theft, resisting arrest, conspiracy and street terrorism.

Delgado could also face a felony identity theft charge.
