Forensics team wins state title for 5th straight year
The forensics team at Moorpark College has won its fifth straight state championship.
The debate teams of Matthew Strawbridge and Jacob Crooks and Justin Harris and Chris Maciel tied for a gold medal.
Strawbridge also won a gold in Lincoln-Douglas debate, a one-on-one debate that generally focuses on policy or values. In addition, Harris won a gold in impromptu speaking and Jamie Maarten won a gold in persuasive speaking.
Orange Coast College placed second, and Los Angeles Valley College placed third in the competition, which was held Thursday through Sunday in Concord. Before it heads to the national competition, Moorpark's team will have a fundraising performance at 7:30 p.m. April 4 in the college's performing arts center.
