The snow is still deep at Squaw Valley USA, where 12 feet of new snow fell in January alone, causing the reissue of its "Heaven on Earth" package.

The designation comes from author Patricia Schultz, who singled out the resort in her best-selling book, "1,000 Places to See in the USA & Canada before You Die."

The package at the ski-in, ski-out resort includes accommodations in a fireplace suite with forest views; a choice of any 50-minute massage, facial or body treatment, one per night per guest; daily breakfast; and a copy of Schultz's book. Package prices, available through April 5, start at $599 per night for two adults, plus taxes and daily resort fee.

In addition to its spa, the resort features a year-around pool, four restaurants, a shopping promenade, ski valet at the base of the on-site chair-lift, Mountain Buddies children's program, and a variety of winter recreational activities, including ice skating, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and dog-sledding.

The renovated mountainside North Lake Tahoe resort features 405 residential-style guest rooms and suites, a Robert Trent Jones Jr. 18-hole golf course, and comprehensive on-site summer recreational program for adults and children.
