A 20-year-old man was arrested Wednesday afternoon in connection with the stabbing death of a Simi Valley man the night before, police said.
Michael Challoner was taken into custody without incident about 1:15 p.m., Simi Police Lt. Stephanie Shannon said. Challoner was arrested after detectives learned he was at a home in the San Fernando Valley, Shannon said. His city of residence was not listed.
Detectives spent Wednesday morning interviewing residents of an apartment complex where Dominic Scamaldo, 48, of Simi Valley was stabbed Tuesday night during what neighbors said was a loud argument.
Police did not list a possible motive for the stabbing. An autopsy showed he died from a stab wound to the chest.
Simi Valley Detective David DelMarco said investigators were told that two groups of people were arguing. Police said they received several phone calls about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday about the fight at the Boulder Creek Apartments complex on Yosemite Avenue.
Witnesses said they saw someone stab Scamaldo on the landing of an apartment, police Sgt. Karl Becker said. Witnesses said the assailant left with a group of others.
Scamaldo was taken to Simi Valley Hospital, where he died about 10:25 p.m.
A second, apparently unrelated stabbing occurred in Simi Valley at 1:12 a.m. Wednesday as an 18-year-old Murrieta man sat in a vehicle in the 1500 block of Alexander Street.
The man was stabbed in the chest, although the wound was minor, said Sgt. Blair Sumney.
Police had not arrested anyone as of Wednesday in connection with that stabbing.

Idiot. Was it worth it? This punk terminated the life of another and will pay with his freedom for all of what would have been his useful years. There is a shortage of thought in this world.

The youth see violence as the answer to the problem. All he would of had to do was walk away. Now, bubba is giving him a good drilling up the backside. Oh well, no remorse for the stupid. At least he will never procreate!

Scott, Is rape ok ? If its ok in prison in your opinion then your belief would be it is ok on the streets. What a terrible thing to say!!!! He will have a hard life in prison, without wishing such sick crimes on him. Rape is Rape......whether it be in prison or on the streets. If you condone it in prison then you do on the streets. My opinion. And remember one day Bubba is gonna probably get out and have that rape crave and who will be his next victim?????
