NFL closer to deal for Spygate material
Matt Walsh, the former New England Patriots employee said to have tapes of illegal spying by the team, is close to an agreement to turn over information to the NFL.
The NFL said in a statement Sunday night that in the last week, lawyers for Walsh and the league have made "substantial progress toward an agreement that will allow Mr. Walsh to be interviewed."

Galaxy's Beckham scores in shootout loss
David Beckham scored a late goal before the Los Angeles Galaxy lost in a penalty shootout to host Hong Kong club South China in the final leg of its preseason Asian exhibition tour.
The matched ended 2-2, with South China prevailing 5-4 in the shootout.
Beckham played the entire game, with the 32-year-old midfielder trying to regain fitness and prove himself ready for a recall to national team duty with England and claim his 100th international cap.

Serena Williams takes Bangalore Open title
Third-seeded Serena Williams clinched the Bangalore (India) Open title by defeating fourth-seeded Patty Schnyder 7-5, 6-3.
Williams dominated the final with powerful serves and groundstrokes. Schnyder committed several unforced errors in trying to hit deep and keep Williams at the baseline.
SKIING
Moelgg wins slalom race as Miller sits out
Manfred Moelgg of Italy won a World Cup slalom event at Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, while Bode Miller sat out.
Moelgg won in a combined time of 1 minute, 42.29 seconds, edging Ivica Kostelic of Croatia by 0.41. Marcel Hirscher of Austria finished third.
Miller, the overall World Cup leader, retained his lead despite skipping the race.
Riesch claims super-combi title: Maria Riesch of Germany won the World Cup super-combi title at Crans-Montana, Switzerland, and closed in on Lindsey Vonn in the race for the overall title.
Riesch finished second, 0.2 seconds behind Anja Paerson. The Swede won the combined downhill and slalom in 2:30.60. American Vonn was third, another 0.06 back.
Vonn needed to win to capture the super-combi title. She was last to ski after taking a lead of 0.86 seconds in the downhill run.
TRACK AND FIELD
Clay wins heptathlon at World Indoors
Bryan Clay of the United States won gold in the heptathlon at the World Indoor Championships at Valencia, Spain, and Yelena Soboleva of Russia broke her own world record in the 1,500 meters.
Soboleva finished in 3 minutes, 57.71 seconds, shaving 0.34 seconds off her former mark.
Clay clinched the gold after Olympic champion Roman Sebrle withdrew because of injury.
IDITAROD
King passes defending champion Mackey
Four-time winner Jeff King surged ahead of defending champion Lance Mackey in the 1,100-mile Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.
King shot past Mackey after leaving the checkpoint at Kaltag, Alaska, 351 miles from the finish line in Nome on Alaska's western coast.
