Cool Down!

It's Pilates in the pool!

Based on the popular class Pilates, Poolates takes place in the water to offer a low-impact exercise routine with all the benefits of Pilates. Developed by Rebecca Pfeiffer, JD, MPH, Poolates uses the buoyancy and resistance of water to strengthen muscles, enhance flexibility and posture, sharpen coordination and balance, and relax the body and soul. The class takes place in our 93 degree therapy pool.

Poolates is a class that anyone can participate in! Performing exercise in the water is easy on the joints and helps reduce pain for those with health ailments. Using the resistance of the water, even the hard-core exerciser can get an intense workout. Poolates is also an excellent form of cross-training for athletes that benefit from flexibility, balance and increased range of motion training.

All Poolates activities work the body from the inside out, working on the inner-muscles. Each certified instructor provides an intense workout by working small muscles in a precise manner. With these types of movements, participants feel relaxed, not overworked.

This challenging, yet gentle water-based approach to a mind-body workout, is being embraced by fitness and wellness professionals everywhere as a true advancement in the field.

Please come try our Poolates class, Wednesday evenings 6:00 - 7:00 PM.
