Copter crew rescues teenager lost on hike
A Sheriff's Department helicopter crew rescued a teenage boy this week after he got lost while hiking in Camarillo, authorities reported.
Evan Smith, 14, of Camarillo called 911 after he became stranded on a steep slope about shortly before 7:30 p.m. Monday while hiking from the top of Conejo Mountain.
He told authorities he began his hike about 4 p.m. near Camarillo Springs.
The helicopter crew found Smith shortly before 8 p.m., hoisted him aboard and flew him to the Camarillo Airport, where his father was waiting for him.
The teen was not injured, authorities said.

Last time i checked 14 yr old teens didnt require Baby sitting. If he had been hiking and called 911 at 730pm I m thinking he was trying to find his way back before that? 911 last resort? I dont find that terribly late 4 a school night. With all that young kids are doing out there these days, I find hiking to be the least of the worrys the parents should have of their 14 yr old.
