What Happen The First Amendment - Freedom Of Speech and Expression In Art ?

Over the weekend we read the story yesterday in the Ventura County Star that the local Arts Council had decided to remove from an exhibit several

paintings and other art objects because they depicted nudity.

Obviously, and we are outranged. This censorship happens far to often in

small towns across America when one or two self-appointed moralists whine

loudly and the local politicians cave from cowardice. So now that this has

happened in our own local community,

We are rising up to say that enough is enough.

We urge you to write a letter or email to the Art Council protesting their

censorship policies so that they know "community standards" includes us

also. We hope that doing so may make them think twice before denying the public a chance to view the fullest range of artistic expression.

Editorial Response To:

Here is a summation of the newspaper article:

On February 7, three nude art pieces were pulled from an exhibit

celebrating the theme "Passion" after officials of the Ventura County Arts

Council determined the pieces were "too racy" for a gallery in a government

building.

SHAME ON YOU VENTURA COUNTY ART COUNCIL.......

You have made it quite clear that you do not honor the First Amendment and

believe more in Art Censorship than permitting any expression of beauty.

Apparently you are quite incapable of expressing yourselves, just because NUDE ART strays away from the norm.and offends your narrow minded eyes

No Nude Art Is Available., It's too offensive for  the Ventura County Arts Council
