Redell selected to National Hall of Fame
Oaks Christian School football coach Bill Redell has been elected to the National High School Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
He will be inducted on June 24 at a Hall of Fame luncheon at the Double Tree Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Redell will be one of 40 honorees.
In 20 years as a high school coach, Redell's teams have won six section championships and compiled a record of 183-59-3.
Oaks Christian set a section record with its 48th straight victory last season and won its fifth consecutive section title. The 2006 Oaks Christian team was 15-0 and won the Division III state title.
In seven seasons at Oaks Christian, Redell's teams are 87-6-1.
He was inducted into the National Football Foundation College Football Hall of Fame in 2001. At Occidental College, Redell made the 1963 NAIA All-America team.
Santa Clara to host casino night: The Santa Clara High athletic department will hold a Casino Night Fundraiser at Casa Lopez Banquet Hall, 325 South A Street in Oxnard on Friday at 6 p.m.
The cost of $25 per person includes food and gaming fun with roulette, blackjack, craps and poker tournaments. Dancing will be available from 10 p.m. until closing. This event is open to the public, 21 years of age and older.

RUNNING
Oak View runners finish L.A. Marathon
Three runners from Oak View finished Sunday's Los Angeles Marathon and were omitted from the list of area finishers in Monday's Star.
George Arita finished the race in 4 hours, 52 minutes, 56 seconds; Paul Belser finished in 4:56:35 and Cindy Moore ran it in 4:25:32.

Newbury Park holds golf tournament
The Newbury Park High football boosters will be hosting the 7th Annual Panther Golf Classic on Monday, April 7, at the Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo to benefit the school's football program.
Registration fees include 18 holes of golf with a cart, range balls, lunch, refreshments, an awards dinner, and a goodie bag. There will be trophies awarded for first, second, and third place, as well as various contests. A raffle and silent auction will also be held during dinner.
