Patriotic stories to be told at Ronald Reagan Library
The story behind the design and creation of the first American flag will be told by storyteller Jim Woodard during the Fourth of July celebration at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley.
Woodard will also tell a little-known story about a life-changing event in the very young life of Walt Disney, and a story that links the pre-World War II days with current times.
He will present two programs during the day, beginning at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Woodard, a Ventura resident, has been the resident storyteller at the Ronald Reagan Library since 1995.
The annual Independence Day event at the library will include music, family entertainment, presidential look-a-likes, face painting, storytelling and children's games. A patriotic concert by the Los Angeles Police Department Concert Band will be featured.
All activities are free; however, regular admission rates apply for those visitors who also visit the museum exhibits.
The library is at 40 Presidential Drive, Simi Valley.
For more information about the coming storytelling programs, call Woodard at 647-2720, or e-mail storyjim@aol.com. For information about other features at the event, call the library at 800-410-8354.
