SPECIAL ORGAN PERFORMANCE PLANNED JULY 6 AT CAMARILLO UMC

Featuring the 2008 piece, I Am An American, Organist Raelynn Praetorius will present a special, 15-minute performance at both services of the Camarillo United Methodist Church Sunday, July 6, at 9 and 10:30 a.m.

Both performances and services are open to the public free of charge. A freewill offering will be taken.

Her performance will be incorporated into the sermon of the Rev. Dr. Jim Decker-Mahin, senior pastor. Dr. Jim and Dr. Lynn Decker-Mahin, his wife and church music director, will be the narrators for the work.

The music, arranged for organ by Robert Tall, noted organ recitalist and clinician, uses paraphrases from Aaron Coplands Fanfare for the Common Man, and incorporates parts of My Country Tis of Thee and God Bless America.

The piece utilizes the organ pipes and electronics of the churchs Rodgers Masterpiece Trillium Organ, which includes 22 ranks of Schantz pipes and the equivalent of more than 150 ranks of electronic organ stops.

Praetorius, an Ojai resident, has been the organist and accompanist at the Methodist Church for one year. She previously was accompanist for the Ojai Community Chorus and studies under Ladd Thomas, chair of the organ department at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music.

For further information, please call the church office at 805-482-4312 or go on the web site, www.cam-umc.org. The church is located at 291 Anacapa Dr. north of Las Posas road.
