As a tennis player, Kyle McMorrow typically spends a fair amount of his time on the court practicing and playing matches. But that is not the extent of his interest in the sport. The Thousand Oaks High junior follows tennis closely off the court, too.

"If tennis is on TV, I'll watch every time," McMorrow said. "I follow college tournaments and I will go online to get information."

Watching the top players on television has likely inspired McMorrow to produce excellent results on the court. The Star's All-County Player of the Year was practically unbeatable this season, winning 61 of his 63 sets during the high school season, many of them by 6-0 scores.

McMorrow's biggest moment came in April at The 108th Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament, where he defeated Santa Monica's Reese Milner 6-1, 6-3 to capture the CIF championship.

Because he is a nationally ranked junior (No. 4 in Boys' 18s), McMorrow plays a schedule that takes him to tournaments as far away as Alabama. Still, McMorrow helped Thousand Oaks reach the quarterfinals of the CIF-Southern Section Division I playoffs, where the Lancers lost a close match 9-9, 69-66 in games to eventual runner-up Santa Barbara.
