Tough times don't last, tough people do?

The culmination of heart, courage and perseverance is no mere cliché for Oak Park High senior Adam Quinn.

It's the way he performs on the volleyball court and through life.

The standout setter put it all on display in his senior season, overcoming all manners of adversity to fashion a stellar campaign.

Quinn has been battling Tourette's syndrome since he was diagnosed at age 5.

He suffered a torn ligament in his right ankle in Oak Park's first tournament and still played like an All-CIF-Southern Section and all-state player the rest of the season.

He sprained his left ankle in the CIF-SS championship match, leaving him hobbled on two bad ankles, and still refused to leave the court.

Through it all, Quinn led the Eagles to their best season in program history.

Oak Park finished 23-5, won the Tri-Valley League championship and posted two victories over Oaks Christian.

The top-ranked Eagles advanced to the CIF-SS Division IV championship match before, alas, losing to No. 2-seeded Oaks Christian in four games.

Quinn's accomplishments, in igniting an attack that feature middle blocker Stephen Thompson and outside hitter Jerad Furlong, included 950 assists.
