Romney to speak at Strickland fundraiser

Former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney will be the featured speaker Tuesday at a fundraising event for state Senate candidate Tony Strickland.

Strickland served as Romney's California campaign chairman during his presidential run. Strickland organized fundraisers, recruited volunteers and participated in phone banks to raise money for the candidate.

Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, has recently been mentioned as a possible vice presidential pick for Sen. John McCain, the presumptive presidential nominee for the Republican Party.

Strickland, a former assemblyman from Moorpark, is running for the 19th Senate District against former Democratic Assemblywoman Hannah-Beth Jackson.

The event will be at Westlake Hyatt Plaza. For more information about the event, contact Chris Wangsaporn at 778-1588.
