Simi Valley's Russo earns co-player of year in baseball

More from BaseballNick Russo of Simi Valley High was named as a co-player of the year for the California Baseball Coaches' Association's Division I team.
Russo and first-team selection Jonathan Meyer helped league Simi Valley to the section championship.
Jett Bandy of Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park's Jack Marder were other first-team selections.
Making the Division I second team were: Tom Hocutt, Thousand Oaks; Cutter Dykstra and Shane Kroker, Westlake; Michael Moris, Moorpark; Brent Keys and Drew Sandler, Simi Valley; Greg Selarz, Calabasas; and Mike Vinyard, Royal.
Oxnard's Mikel Beltran and Camarillo's Jacob Mahan were named to the Division II first team.
Blake Adame of Oxnard made the Division II second team.
Casey Serna of St. Bonaventure was awarded a place on the Division IV first team.
Chosen for the Division IV second team were Michael Abeloe, Jeremy Dann and Martin Medina, St. Bonaventure; and Stephen Williams, Malibu.
Brett Hockenberry of Grace Brethren was selected to the Division V second team with Carpinteria's Kyle Geary and Taylor Ward.
