Bruce has been having a problem with Office Outlook, which keeps asking him to do something he really doesn't want to do, thank you very much.

Here's how he tells it:

When I open my Office Outlook 2003 program, while loading it also brings up a screen to Create or Select Business Contact Manager Database. How do I get this screen to NOT APPEAR on opening every time as I use another database management program?

Your help is greatly appreciated as I don't find any answers in the program Help file.

For some expert advice, we turned to G.J. Goldwyn of A Computer Pro. Here's what he suggested:

The Business Contact Manager is an "add-in" for Outlook. It is included in certain versions of Microsoft Office. If you're not going to use it, just remove it using the steps below:

To remove Business Contact Manager from a profile:

1. In Outlook, Go to "File --> Data File Management"

2. Select "Business Contact Manager" from the list of Outlook Data Files.

3. Click the "Remove" button

To completely uninstall Business Contact Manager:

1. Go to Start --> Control Panel

2. Open "Add Remove Programs"

3. Select the "Remove" button next to the entry for "Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2003"

I like the second solution better. It's a more complete way of getting rid of it. There is also a way to disable it from the Windows system registry, but if I put those instructions here, one could damage their Windows operating system ... and that could be a bad thing (or a good thing if you hate Windows).

Hope that helps. As always, if you have questions please send them my way at abruce@VenturaCountyStar.com
