50 firefighters put out 2-acre grass fire
Firefighters extinguished a small weekend brush fire in Ojai, authorities said Monday.
The 2-acre grass fire was reported in the 300 block of Saddle Lane in Ojai about 2 p.m. Sunday, said Capt. Barry Parker, a spokesman for the Ventura County Fire Department.
The fire burned near some structures and horse corrals, but firefighters extinguished the flames within an hour and finished cutting lines around the burned area by 4 p.m., Parker said. No damage was reported.
About 50 firefighters and a water-dropping helicopter were sent to battle the blaze. Weed-abatement efforts in the area helped prevent the fire's spread, Parker said.
The cause of the fire was still under investigation Monday.
