Monroe wants to give the gift of Freedom'
As co-founder of the Raven Drum Foundation, Lauren Monroe has spent quite a bit of time in Ventura County leading drum and empowerment circles with her husband, Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen.
Now Monroe, a Malibu resident, is stepping out on her own with her first solo CD, "The Freedom Sessions." The disc, produced by Allen, is a 10-track collection of songs that Monroe hopes will fill people's hearts "with peace and courage."
Freedom, she believes, is a "compassionate gift," one that people can either accept or choose to ignore. The songs on "The Freedom Sessions" are designed to give people the courage to accept that freedom.
Monroe debuted songs from the new CD last year at a concert in Topanga.
