More from Crime on the Streets
Investigators continue to look for the person who threw a rock June 11 from a Highway 101 overpass in Thousand Oaks, severely injuring a 36-year-old Ventura woman.
Monica Dalto, a Ventura County probation officer, had to undergo emergency brain surgery to remove bone fragments from her brain after being hit in the head while riding in her vehicle under the Wendy Drive overpass. Doctors installed a titanium plate in her head.
The woman's friends and family are offering $6,500 for information leading to the apprehension and conviction of the person responsible.
Anyone with information on the incident should contact the California Highway Patrol at 553-0800.
Additional donations to the reward fund are welcome and can be made by contacting Russ Whitmeyer at 432-0054.

If anyone was going to come forward, they would've done it by now... I think this case is a lost cause... The people that keep 'upping' the reward, need to just chalk it up as a loss. I know that what these people did is wrong, but it almost seems like they are trying to prove something, by raising the reward every couple of weeks. I wish someone would come forward, but I don't think that will happen.

Maybe they think if there were multiple idiots in on this one of them will get greedy and come forward..

I agree Adam!
I'm STILL waiting to hear what is going on with the cyclist hit in Hueneme! Geez, they found the car, so is that it? Impound the car- case closed? I feel so bad for his family, I sure hope the police have leads.

I honestly don't think increasing the reward is going to get them anyone confessing - guilty conscience or not.

I also agree Adam...why do they even care "who" threw the rock? It is not like an unsolved murder. I honestly believe it is only because she is "one of there own" a probation officer. She is far more important than a civilian. Friends/family GIVE THE MONEY TO HER IF YOU CARE SO DARN MUCH!
And I'd really like to know why the authorities are so adamant that someone intentionally threw a rock directly into the sunroof of this vehicle to specifically hurt her.
Why don't they just chalk it up to a stray freaking rock, and LET IT GO!

LivininPoormansPV, From your mouth to God's ears... I've been saying the same thing since the story first hit...

Randomly placing citizens in harm's way ... with death the possible outcome ... is a crime that calls for a solution and for getting somebody off of the streets who is still a threat. It could have been any one of us. Instead, it was Monica Dalto who, on our behalf, deals with criminals daily.
Anonymous tips to Ventura County Crime Stoppers have led to solving crimes ranging from murder to graffiti vandalism. Tipsters collect rewards without having to compromise their anonymity.
The rewards offered by family and friends is $6,500 for information leading to the apprehension and conviction of the person responsible. Crime Stoppers will pay an additional reward of up to $1,000 for a tip leading to an arrest without the need to wait for trial. Crime Stoppers can coordinate with those offering other rewards while still protecting the tipster's identity so that two payments would be possible ... one at time of arrest and the other upon conviction.
A tip can be phoned in to our bilingual call center at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), sent via the web at www.VenturaCountyCrimeStoppers.com or by texting "tip375" along with the tip to CRIMES.

Cool Robert!
I have a slew of cases for you then....starting with threats to my life! (DEATH WAS DEFINATELY THE POSSIBLE OUTCOME) I know the person, and I know exactly where they reside. The police DID NOTHING!

somehow I doubt your life was threatened, and the police did nothing.
This was a heinous act. Someone randomly throwing a rock or rocks off of an overpass trying to hit cars, nearly killed a person. this person needs to come forward, and deal with the consequences. I only hope that this persons PO when they get out is Monica Dalto.

In my personal opinion, despite the reward amount, this will probably end up being a lost/closed case.

If they up the reward, maybe one of their punk friends will get greedy and turn them in. Losers who do crimes like this can never keep their mouths shut.

I beg to differ with those who say this is a lost cause. I believe that those responsible will come to justice. Those who did this are hoping people will "give up" and let it go, just like most criminals. It is just a matter of time, and I would like to have friends who stick up for me and fight for my cause like Ms. Dalto. I say, Hang in there! Catch the creeps, and let them face the judge and jury. You can run, but you can't hide.
