Pressure points important part of proper grip
Some golfers may have a grip that looks fundamentally sound, but actually isn't because of incorrect pressure points.
For a right-handed player, you want to have more pressure in the last three fingers of your left hand and the middle and ring fingers of your right hand. If you've practiced enough, you should see calluses in these areas.
Another acceptable sign is a worn spot in your glove in the rear part of your palm.
But if you have worn spots in other areas or visible ruts in your grips, then you are gripping it too tightly and this will greatly affect your release through the impact zone.
Also, if you feel like your right thumb and index finger are exerting too much pressure, try hitting some balls with those two fingers completely off of the grip.
Photos at impact have shown that Vijay Singh, Fred Couples and other notable professional golfers don't even have their right thumb and index finger on the grip through impact! This will give you a feeling that the left hand is leading the way and that the right hand is just along for the ride.
Another helpful reminder is to clean your grips on at least a monthly basis with hot water and a towel and regrip your whole set at least once per year.
