Mayors for Peace to be topic of meeting
A discussion about International Mayors for Peace and a screening of the docudrama "Last Best Chance" will highlight this month's meeting of Citizens for Peaceful Resolutions.
The meeting will be held Aug. 3 at 3 p.m. in Foster Library's Topping Room, 651 E. Main St., Ventura.
Santa Paula City Councilman Gabino Aguirre will update the group on the International Mayors for Peace campaign to abolish nuclear weapons. The film, produced by the Nuclear Threat Initiative, will be shown and discussed.
Coming events in which the group is involved include:
- Dedication of the Plaza Park Peace Garden and Peace Pole; commemoration of Nagasaki Day in Plaza Park Aug. 9 at 1 p.m.
- Earth Charter Summit at Ventura College Oct. 11 at 3 p.m.

"abolish nuclear weapons"?? What, does Ventura have a nuke stockpile that we haven't heard about?
And apparently mayors of other cities have nuclear weapons, too! Golly!
