T.O. police offering 12-week Citizens Academy

The Thousand Oaks Police Department is offering residents the chance to get an in-depth look at law enforcement by attending its 23rd annual Citizen's Academy.
Academy classes will be held at the Thousand Oaks Police Station, 2101 E. Olsen Road, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays for 12 weeks, beginning Sept. 3.
Participants will visit the county jail, the crime lab and sheriff's training academy. They also will have the opportunity to do training exercises. Classroom presentations will cover topics including narcotics, investigations and SWAT.
