Dos Pueblos won the game by a score of 8-0 at Moorpark.
Dos Pueblos Little League continued its power display, defeating District 13 champion Thousand Oaks 8-0 Wednesday night to capture its first Section 1 Tournament championship in the 11-12-year-old division.
Dos Pueblos earned a 12-0 victory Tuesday night to force the deciding game and now takes its offensive prowess into Saturday's Sub-Division North Tournament at Handy Park in Orange.
Dos Pueblos, the District 63 champion, lost in its two previous Section 1 Tournaments, in 1993 and 1988. Dos Pueblos had a team of players who celebrated a state championship as 10-year-olds in 2006 and advanced to the state tournament as 11-year-olds last summer. This summer's team has a dream to play in the Little League World Series in South Williamsport, Pa.
Conejo Valley, the Section 1 champion in 2004, pulled off that achievement by winning the state, region and the U.S. championship with a 22-game winning streak.
Nolan Soto hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the first to get Dos Pueblos off and rolling against Thousand Oaks. Brody Curtis opened the inning with a double off the center-field fence.
Marcos Carrillo added a two-run homer in the second inning to make it 4-0. Dos Pueblos (9-1) has hit 29 homers in 10 games.
Carrillo had a triple and scored the game's final run in the fifth.
Dos Pueblos closed the game by turning a double play.
Ricky Davis of Thousand Oaks (6-2) had two hits. Justin Causey and Ray Lambert also had hits.
DP's Dylan Rohde caught a ball by stretching his glove over the fence, robbing Jackson Simonsgaard of a homer.
Thousand Oaks manager Bob Causey said his team played phenomenal in the first game to defeat Dos Pueblos, 6-5.
"You gave it your all; Hats off to DP," Causey told the players in an awards ceremony.
Dos Pueblos manager Dan Rohde was proud of his small league and what it accomplished.
"We've never been this far as 12-year-olds. We only had five Major Division teams."
Moorpark Little League president Gary Kelman told DP to bring home the championship.
Moorpark was the first Ventura County and District 13 team to play in Williamsport 12 years ago.
"We don't want you to come home unless you win the whole thing," Kelman said.
Montalvo wins showdown: The Montalvo Junior Division All-Stars defeated Sunset, 11-1, a five-inning mercy victory. Montalvo was coming off an 8-1 win on Tuesday night against Sunset from Oxnard, the District 13 champion.
Montalvo, the Section 1 champion in 2007 as 12-year-old players, had dropped a 13-11 decision to Sunset on Sunday night in Nipomo.
Montalvo put together 11 hits and batted around the order in the bottom of the second and third innings. Montalvo scored six runs in the second and five more in the third.
Jordan Yanez pitched a four-hitter and helped his own cause with two hits. Nate Palace had a single and three-run double in the second inning. Wesley Dodge added two hits. Jeff Schwartz played well on defense, throwing out a runner attempting to leg a single into a double. Brett Ramirez made a diving catch in left field.
The other members of the Section 1 championship team are Kahlil Pipersburg, Dalton Rocha, Alan Colburn, Phillip Bickford, Marcus Sandoval and Tyler Phillips.
Montalvo will play Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in the Sub-Division 3 North Tournament at Conejo Creek in Thousand Oaks.
Thousand Oaks wins title: The Thousand Oaks Little League 9-10-year-old team used a walkoff homer by John Glenn in the bottom of the sixth to defeat Orcutt National, 7-5, in the Section 1 championship at Village Hills in Lompoc. Riley Jones and Kevin Howell had singles to set the stage for Glenn.
Thousand Oaks was coming off a 7-6 win over Orcutt National on Tuesday to force a deciding game.
Thousand Oaks will play at Moorpark Little League in Saturday's Sub-Division 3 North Bracket Tournament. Game time will be 3:30 p.m.
Thousand Oaks lost its opening game, 6-5, against Arroyo Grande.
