Thousand Oaks High has turned to a familiar face to fill its baseball head coaching position.

Jim Stueve, a 1993 graduate and a former assistant baseball coach for the Lancers, has accepted the assignment, athletic director Jason Klinger announced.

Stueve, the head baseball coach at Oaks Christian School the past two years, said the job amounts to a homecoming.

"It's where I grew up. It's my home. I where I belong," said Stueve.

Klinger said the hiring is a perfect fit.

"We are excited to have coach Stueve back at (Thousand Oaks) and feel confident that he will provide the leadership necessary to continue the success of Lancer baseball," he said.

Stueve replaces Frank Mutz, who resigned after the season to take the head coaching position at Chaminade High.

Stueve was an assistant coach under Rod Stillwell from 2002 to 2005, and was on the staff when the Lancers won the CIF-SS Division II championship ion 2003.

Stueve appreciates the challenge of guiding Thousand Oaks' high-powered program and competing in the Marmonte League.

"Nothing against the Tri-Valley League, which has a number of good programs, but there may be no better league than the Marmonte League," he said.

Stueve is serving this summer as the head coach for the Conejo Oaks Collegiate Summer Team.
