Cardiac arrhythmia killed jail prisoner
The Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office released an autopsy report this week that says a 37-year-old Ventura man died from cardiac arrhythmia while in county jail on May 1.
Joel S. Wood had "severe fatty change" to his liver "due to acute and chronic alcohol abuse," the report says, with the condition leading to cardiac arrhythmia.
Wood was not breathing when a deputy checked his cell. He was pronounced dead about an hour later.
Ventura police had arrested Wood on an outstanding warrant for petty theft and battery.

Rest in peace Mr. Wood, I pray that your next life is better. To die in jail is a sad thing indeed.
