T.O. Library Hosts Family Film Night
Thousand Oaks Library is hosting a Free Family Film night with a screening of the movie, Nim's Island, at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at the Grant R. Brimhall Library Community Room, 1401 E. Janss Road.
Nim's Island, released earlier this year, stars Abigail Breslin, Jodie Foster, and Gerard Butler, in a delightful tale about a young girl who inhabits an isolated island with her scientist father and communicates with a reclusive author of the novel she's reading. It is an existence that mirrors that of her favorite literary character, Alex Rover, the world's greatest adventurer. But Alexandra, the author of the Rover books, leads a reclusive life in the big city. When Nim's father goes missing from their island, a twist of fate brings her together with Alexandra. Now they must draw courage from their fictional hero, Alex Rover, and find strength in one another to conquer Nim's Island.
The adventure/comedy is rated PG and runs 95 minutes. Light refreshments will be offered. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Thousand Oaks Library. For more information contact the Library at 449-2660, ext. 258 or visit the website at www.toaks.org/library .
