The Dos Pueblos Little League All-Stars came out swinging like the 12-year-old team has done all season.

The road to the Little League World Series in South Williamsport, Pa., starts in district play and the District 63 champion sluggers have belted overpowered their opponents. Isaac Rodriguez hit a two-run homer in the first inning as Dos Pueblos went on to hand Thousand Oaks its first postseason defeat, 12-0, on Tuesday evening at Moorpark.

Brody Curtis pitched a one-hitter with six strikeouts to send Dos Pueblos into today's 5:15 p.m. deciding game for the Section 1 championship.

Dos Pueblos has only two 11-12-year-old District 63 titles from 1993 and 1988. Dos Pueblos has never won a Section 1 championship in this division.

Two years ago, Dos Pueblos won the Southern California State championship with a 13-1 record.

Dos Pueblos lost its first game in state and reeled off six straight wins for the title. Last year, Dos Pueblos was the 11-year-old Section 1 champion, but Curtis was injured when the team went to state.

Curtis was in command, allowing a two-out single to Justin Causey in the first inning. But Causey was thrown out going for second base from right field.

"He pitched a great game," said Dan Rohde, the Dos Pueblos manager, of his youngest son of four family Little Leaguer players.

Rohde said his team made several mistakes in the 6-5 opening game loss to Thousand Oaks on Saturday.

"We beat ourselves," said Rohde, a 25-year coach with Dos Pueblos.

Bob Causey's District 13 championship team ran into a buzz saw.

"They were ready to play. It wasn't our day," said Causey.

Thousand Oaks is playing in its second Section 1 Tournament in eight years.

"We will come back and give it a shot," said Causey.

Dos Pueblos (9-1) had a four-run first inning. Nathan Soto hit a three-run homer in the six-run fifth inning.

Dos Pueblos has hit 27 homers since All-Star play started. Rodriguez has 14 of them. Rohde has five homers and Curtis two, Matt Strickland was the losing pitcher. Strickland overcame a line drive off his ankle from Rohdes bat in the second inning. Thousand Oaks went through five pitchers and watched Dos Pueblos collect 13 hits.

Today's winner advances to Saturday's Southern California Sub-Divisional Tournament in Orange to join a field of five section champions. The winner plays the South Sub-Division in Murrieta to determine the West Region representative from Southern California.

Dos Pueblos is attempting to do what the 12-year-old Conejo Valley Little Leaguers did, win state, West Region and play in the World Series.

Montalvo 8, Sunset 1: The Montalo Junior All-Stars forced a deciding game today at 5 p.m. at Nipomo by defeating Sunset, 8-1. Corey Dodge pitched a two-hitter with six strikeouts. Wesley Dodge had two hits.

The other Montalvo players are Nathaniel Palace, Kahlil Pipersburg, Dalton Rocha, Jeff Schwartz, Alan Colburn, Phillip Bickford, Marcus Sandoval, Jordan Yanez Tyler Phillips, and Brett Ramirez. Frank Dodge is the manager. Jerry Durham is the coach.

Dos Pueblos wins title: Dos Pueblos defeated Moorpark, 5-1, for the 11-year-old Section 1 championship at Dos Pueblos.
