Car blaze sparks wildfire, delays Metrolink train
Train tracks near Simi Valley were closed briefly Tuesday morning after a car went over a 150-foot embankment near the railway and burst into flames, the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported.
The sport utility vehicle was found about 10 feet from the tracks near Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Santa Susana Pass Road when firefighters responded about 4 a.m., according to the Fire Department. The vehicle was empty; further information was not available.
The vehicle fire started a quarter-acre brush fire, which firefighters quickly extinguished.
One Metrolink train was delayed for seven minutes, Metrolink spokeswoman Denise Tyrrell said.
