California Lutheran selects student director
A Newbury Park High School graduate and former Duke University administrator has been named director of student life at California Lutheran University.
In her new position, Melinda Roper will oversee student leadership, programs and community service at the Thousand Oaks university.
CLU has about 70 clubs and organizations. In addition, 80 percent of students participate in intercollegiate and intramural sports.
Roper succeeds Angela Naginey, who is now CLU's director of retention.
At Duke, Roper was senior associate director of student activities and engagement, as well as the interim director of the women's center.
She earned her bachelor's degree from UC Santa Barbara and her master's and doctorate degrees from Penn State.
