Elderly T.O. man missing
Authorities are asking for help in locating an 85-year-old Thousand Oaks man who has been missing since Saturday.
John Stipec Jr. was last seen at the Best Western at 75 West Thousand Oaks Boulevard, Ventura County Sheriff's Department officials said in a prepared statement. He lives on Magellan Street in Thousand Oaks and is believed to be driving a red Dodge Dakota pick-up truck with license plate number 7X11879.
He occasionally drives to stores on Wendy Drive in Newbury Park via Lynn Road, and, last week mentioned to a family friend he wanted to drive his truck to San Francisco, authorities said.
Stipec has recently exhibited signs of dementia, and he threatened to take his own life before leaving his house, authorities said.
He takes medication for high blood pressure, but did not have any of the medication with him when he left.
Stipec is described as 6 feet 1 inch tall, 190 pounds, with white hair and hazel eyes.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Buschow at 494-8226 or 947-8129.

He probably lives alone, that explains why he took off. While showing "signs of dementia", I sincerely hope they find him, before he injures himself or someone else.

That is correct Junior, so hopefully they find this man, if that is the case. But with him showing signs of dementia, you think he'll make the drive to San Franscisco though? I hope he doesn't.
Anotha' day...and how are you? =)

He's been gone a week and they just printed this today? That's too bad, if people would have known sooner then people would have had been on the look out -

He's been missing since Saturday, not yet one week. Family was probably trying to do their best in finding him on their own. Seeing they were getting nowhere, that's when they called the police? Who knows, it's just a possibility.

What is the waiting period to report someone missing, isn't it something like 72 hours?

Especially when they are elderly suffering from dementia, that time fram should be cut shorter.

You might be confusing when he said he wanted to go to San Francisco with the last time he was actually seen - I had to re-read it to get it at first.
Anyway - I hope they find him alive and help him out with his health issues.
