More from Crime on the Streets
Two men robbed a man and a woman at gunpoint Sunday morning near Marina Park in Ventura, according to police.
Albert Badalyan and Ambartsum Akopyan of North Hollywood approached the two, who were sitting in a car at Greenock Lane near Pierpont Boulevard, around 1 a.m., police said. Badalyan, 26, was armed with a handgun and opened the car door and pointed the gun at the woman, demanding money, Ventura police said.
Badalyan held both victims at gunpoint, and Akopyan, 26, took the woman's purse from inside the car, according to a news release. Both suspects fled and were seen going into Marina Park.
Witnesses told officers that two men were seen walking onto the north jetty toward the entrance to Ventura Harbor. Officers checked the jetty with a spotlight on a Ventura Harbor Patrol boat piloted by a Harbor Patrol officer.
Officers found both men.
Badalyan and Akopyan were arrested and booked into Ventura County Jail, where they remained Sunday, each on $100,000 bail.
The jetty area was marked with crime scene tape, the area was closed off and an officer was posted until daylight so the area could be searched for additional evidence. An investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Ventura Police Department at 339-4343, or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 385-TALK or 494-TALK. Crime Stoppers pays up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.

Agreed. Committing an armed robbery with no escape route. These guys are not the sharpest tools in the shed!

I did just read the article. Very sad. Gangster or not, no one has the right to take away another's life. And the comments, yes, they are outrageous; as if it matters in which city we live...crime is anywhere.

2 Armenians are the thugs. Amazing. My late friend Luther Eskijian built the Armenian Church, Ararat, in Mission Hills. Maybe these 2 dummies should have spent more time there getting some religion. They are definitely misfits. Glad they were caught. Let's see their photos.

I was a bit skeptical to speak in terms of their race, since I do not want to get bombarded. But just as clementine mentioned, crime is committed everywhere, committed by ANYONE.
