Las Vegas man held on suspicion of rape
A Las Vegas man was arrested Friday on suspicion of multiple counts of sexually assaulting a 24-year-old woman in Moorpark, sheriff's deputies said.
John Timothy Ross, 42, was arrested on suspicion of six felonies, including rape, kidnapping with the intent of committing another crime, and the cutting of a utility line.
He was being held Saturday in Ventura County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
Deputies said a Moorpark woman called 911 at 4:45 a.m. Friday to report that she was being attacked, but the call was cut off when the line was disconnected.
About 20 minutes later, deputies said, they found a nude woman wrapped in a window curtain on Peach Hill Road in Moorpark. The woman told officers she had been raped at a home in the 13000 block of Westport Street, several blocks away.
Deputies said they found Ross at the home 5 hours later and arrested him. He had been living there while remodeling it, deputies said.
Ross is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on Tuesday.
