New stores due near Moorpark College

Campus Plaza tenants to open for business this month

A shopping center next to Moorpark College will have several new stores open before the school's fall term begins Aug. 18.

Kopy King, a graphic design and printing store, and Off Campus Bookstore, which will sell textbooks, are among several new tenants planning to open this month at Campus Plaza, located on about seven acres at Collins and Campus Park drives.

In addition, Community Pregnancy Clinic, which will offer prenatal care services, is under construction at the center.

The 72,000-square-foot, four-building shopping center was constructed beginning in 2004 by M&M Development. Dansk Investment Group took over ownership of the center this year.

Existing tenants include a Shell service station, McDonald's and Starbucks. Newer tenants include Accu-Prints, Campus Mini Mart, Daria Jade Salon & Med Spa, Juice It Up, NailSpa, the Pita Pit, Quiznos, Soul Body Yoga and Vienna Bagels & Donuts.

Eileen Mora, onsite project manager for Dansk, said other tenants joining the center or still in negotiations include a frozen yogurt store, dry cleaners, a Mexican restaurant called Chronic Tacos, a pizza parlor and ArchAngel, a martial arts clothing store.

The center will include a gathering area with a public art piece.

"It will definitely be a welcoming place for students at the college because of the variety of places to eat and services offered," Mora said.

She said students looking for employment can inquire at stores in the center.

Moorpark resident Carey Peters, who lives near the center, said the many restaurants and stores are a welcome addition to the neighborhood. "We need more upscale shopping centers like this on this side of town," Peters said.

Michelle Anderson, who plans to attend Moorpark College in the fall, said she hopes to be a regular customer between classes.

"This is convenient because it's right next door," she said.

Medical, retail and office spaces are still available at the center.

Very cool! Looking forward to the completion of this mall. A textbook store and a copying center will be great near the college.

It's certainly about time that something opened around there. I remember going there 10 years ago and wondered why there wasn't anything around. I finally got to see it in full force and thought that the shopping center was long overdue.
