Oaks lose in 11 innings to Foresters

More from SportsA ninth-inning comeback forced extra innings, but the Conejo Oaks still fell victim to the Santa Barbara Foresters, 4-3, on Thursday.
The win was the first of the season for the Foresters (14-12, 9-8) over the Oaks (10-7-1, 8-6), making the season series 3-1 in favor of the Oaks.
The Foresters sent their fans home happy with barely any daylight left when Neil Medchill took the first pitch he saw in the bottom of the 11th inning over the right-field wall for the victory.
The solo homer broke the Oaks hopes for a late-inning comeback that started in the top of the ninth. Down 3-0 with no outs in the ninth, pinch hitter Tony Harkey hit a three-run homer, his first of the season, to tie the game at 3-3.
The game started as a pitchers' duel between Oaks starter Robbie Selden and the Foresters starter Cason Andrew. Selden allowed only three runs, two of which were earned, on three hits over 513 innings. Carson outdueled Selden with seven shutout innings, scattering three hits while striking out nine.
