VENTURA
Foundation's gift benefits cancer resource center
The Community Memorial Healthcare Foundation has made a contribution to Community Memorial Hospital's Cancer Resource Center. The money will go to pay half the cost of a contract with The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura to operate a satellite office in the center to provide educational support and counseling services for cancer patients.
The Cancer Resource Center, across the street from CMH at 184 N. Brent St., offers services to meet the needs of individuals diagnosed with cancer, in addition to providing support programs for family members of cancer patients. The center is open to all cancer patients, and services are free.
The Community Memorial Healthcare Foundation, formed in 1984, is a nonprofit organization with the basic mission of providing ways to educate the community regarding the service capabilities of Community Memorial Hospital; to work with the community to facilitate support of Community Memorial Hospital; and to raise funds for the development, operation and maintenance of programs and services.
