Autopsy set for woman found in rural area

An autopsy will likely be conducted today on the young woman found Tuesday morning in a rural area near Agoura Hills, authorities said Wednesday.

The body of Kaylin Marie Mathews, 20, of Agoura Hills was discovered in the 32000 block of Lobo Canyon Road in a rural, unincorporated area around 11:30 a.m.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau is handling the investigation.

On Tuesday, Lt. Daniel Rosenberg of the bureau said it is believed that Mathews suffered "a very tragic accidental death, possible involving drugs."

Information from the woman's friends and the preliminary investigation by the coroner suggest she was placed on the side of the road sometime late Monday night, Rosenberg said.

The remote area off a dirt road is a popular party place for young people, he said.

I'd like to know why it is the media is downplaying the fact that this girl was DUMPED in the middle of nowhere and left dead. Um, the last time I checked, leaving a body for dead instead of calling the authorities kinda sounds like FOUL PLAY to me! Does it sound like nothing to the media because it's just another dead body in LA? Even if drugs or alcohol are involved, this girl is still someone's child.

Maybe they are just not giving us the full details yet!

Someone on yesterday's story posted that she was with a male friend and by the time he realized that she had OD'd, she was dead. He panicked and just left her at the side of the road.

No matter what, it's HORRIBLE that a friend would just leave her there.

I hope that these "friends" and others who love her learn from this and curtail the partying.

I agree with CassWJ on this. Its still a 'fishy' situation. Maybe she could've been saved if someone would've dropped her in a hospital instead of on the side of the road??!
She was only 20 yrs old for goodness sakes!
As a mother of 2 kids, this breaks my heart...

It sounds like what happened with Ted Kennedy years ago and he panicked and let his 'friend' die. HORRIBLE!

A little internet research turned up that she was an up and coming DJ that went by the name Sativa. Very pretty. RIP

Pog...I saw her MySpace page - she was a very beautiful girl.

I also have two kids and can't even imagine getting news like this.

My condolences to her family.

Like I said before...dope fiend friends...tragedy indeed...with friends like these, who needs enemies? Right?

Panic or not...not half-way intelligent person would just leave their dead or dying friend on a dirt road like a dead DOG...

Disgusting...I hope she rest in peace...I know her friend(s) wont be...

I hope the person who posted about what really happened goes to the authorities with what he/she knows, because apparently the police are still investigating. It would be nice for the girl's family to have some answers.
