Moorpark teen wins Congressional Award

More from Local NewsA Moorpark teen was among 237 students from around the country who received the highest honor for youth service.
Ryan Krebs was given the Congressional Award Gold Medal on June 19 for contributing more than 250 hours of service as a teen docent at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley.
Krebs also served as his Boys Scout troop's youth leader for two years, is an avid reader and traveled to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, where he completed a 75-mile trek through the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in two weeks.
About 150 of the young award recipients traveled to Washington, D.C., to attend the Congressional Award's Annual Gold Medal Ceremony and Reception.
Since 1979, the award has recognized thousands of students who have conducted more than 2.5 million hours of service.
