California Lutheran University is launching a new graduate program that merges business and technology.
The Master of Science in Information Systems and Technology combines the technical foundation of information systems with key business concepts. It was designed to address the need in today's world for professionals who have strong business and technical skills. The program provides more technical expertise than a Master's in Business Administration, but more management skills than a Master's in Computer Science.
Graduates will be prepared for a variety of positions, such as data center manager and technical services director. Information systems and technology careers currently represent five of the top 20 growth positions nationwide, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In Los Angeles County, seven of the top 10 growth positions are in these careers.
CLU's MS-IST program, which is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, gives students the flexibility to mix and match courses based on their goals. In addition to core classes covering managerial and technical topics, students can select from electives on information security, bioinformatics and management strategies for e-business.
Enrollment is underway for the program, which officially starts Sept. 2.
CLU is a selective liberal arts and sciences university located in Thousand Oaks, with graduate centers in Oxnard and Woodland Hills. For more information, go to http://www.callutheran.edu/graduate, e-mail clugrad@callutheran.edu or call (805) 493-3127.
