Dunlap named superintendent of the year

Jody Dunlap, superintendent of the Oxnard Union High School District, has been named superintendent of the year by Pepperdine University.

Dunlap was recognized for leadership in improving schools in her district, said John Fitzpatrick, superintendent in residence at Pepperdine's Graduate School of Education and Psychology.

For the past two years, all of Oxnard Union's high schools have met state goals for academic improvement.

Before coming to Oxnard Union, Dunlap served as a district administrator, principal and assistant principal in the Conejo Valley Unified School District.

Dunlap earned her master's degree in school administration and her doctorate in institutional management from Pepperdine's Graduate School of Education and Psychology.
