City rejects claim for traffic death
Westlake Village has denied a claim for damages in connection with the death of a pedestrian on a city street.
The City Council voted Wednesday to deny the claim filed by the estate of Hua Zhang. The Agoura Hills resident was struck and killed by a northbound vehicle on Lindero Canyon Road near Baronsgate Drive on June 3, 2007.
A claim is a required step before a lawsuit can be filed to recover damages.
In the claim, the city is accused of failing to take steps to improve safety on the street.

Funny how the city can spend $1.3 Million on landscaping.. The City needs to look at putting in side walks for the people who walk and run around Westlake. The City is no longer a place in the country as it once was, too many people and too many cars for people to think walking or running on the road where there is no side walk is safe any longer. As for the money spent on the benches they installed, well another “more money than sense” scheme!

Agreed, although I don't know the details of this incident. I work in WV and there are many areas around our office without sidewalks. I've almost run into Oaks Christian track team members that are forced to run on the street in that area.
